Biography

Beth Velasco received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from California State University, Fullerton and will complete the requirements for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Biology in Spring 2013.

Ms. Velasco has worked with youth her whole life. She has worked as a camp counselor for various summer camps since she was in high school. Over the past two years she has also worked as a private tutor in biology, chemistry, and math for high school students. Ms. Velasco has also worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader at CSUF, holding discussion groups that helped students succeees in difficult courses.

Ms. Velasco feels that teaching is not just assisting students in acquiring knowledge, but also encouraging them to pursue their interests and achieve their educational and lifelong goals. While working with students of different ages and ethnicities, she has discovered a passion for working with high school students. Combined with her passion for the natural sciences, Ms. Velasco feels that becoming a high school teacher is a perfect for her personality.

Ms. Velasco entered the TaPP (Teaching as a Primary Profession) scholar in June 2012 and looks forward to inspiring students to love the sciences.
